story highlights

The UNFCCC Secretariat has published an addendum containing a submission by India providing annotations to three new agenda items proposed for consideration by COP 17 on: accelerated access to critical mitigation and adaptation technologies and related intellectual property rights; equitable access to sustainable development; and unilateral trade measures.

UNFCCC7 October 2011: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a document containing annotations to the additional agenda items proposed by India for inclusion in the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UNFCCC, to be held at the end of 2011, in Durban, South Africa.

India has previously proposed three additional agenda items for consideration by COP 17, as follows: agenda item 11 on accelerated access to critical mitigation and adaptation technologies and related intellectual property rights; agenda item 12 on equitable access to sustainable development; and agenda item 13 on unilateral trade measures. These agenda items are included in the provisional agenda for COP 17.

India has now made a submission to the Secretariat containing annotations to these new agenda items, with the aim of: providing a context for the COP’s consideration of the agenda items; explaining the underlying concerns that motivated the proposal to include these items in the provisional agenda; and outlining the goals sought to be advanced by considering these items.
