Brazil's submission, which summarizes an informal workshop on eligibility of land with forests in exhaustion as CDM project activities, was made under the SBSTA agenda item on implications of the inclusion of reforestation of lands with forest in exhaustion as afforestation and reforestation (A/R) CDM project activities.
17 May 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published Brazil’s summary report of the informal workshop on the “Eligibility of Areas Containing Forests in Exhaustion for the Development of A/R CDM Project Activities” (FCCC/SBSTA/2012/MISC.10).
Brazil’s submission was made under the agenda item of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) on implications of the inclusion of reforestation of lands with forest in exhaustion as afforestation and reforestation (A/R) Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project activities. Brazil’s report of the informal workshop, which was held from 25-27 April 2012, in Brazil, summarizes the discussions held during the workshop, including on issues relating to the eligibility and definition of forests in exhaustion, as well as other methodological issues. The report states that in general, workshop participants agreed on the need for sufficient time to discuss this issue under the SBSTA.
