UNFCCC Publishes Adaptation Committee Submissions

The UNFCCC Secretariat has published 34 parties submissions on the composition of, and modalities and procedures for, the Adaptation Committee, including linkages with other relevant institutional arrangements.

11 March 2011: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published 34 submissions (FCCC/AWGLCA/2011/MISC.1) from parties on views on the composition of, and modalities and procedures for, the Adaptation Committee, including linkages with other relevant institutional arrangements.

These submissions will be considered by the 14th session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA 14). The first part of AWG-LCA 14 will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 5-8 April 2011, and the second part in Bonn, Germany, from 6-7 June 2011. The Conference of the Parties (COP) requested the AWG-LCA to elaborate the composition of, and modalities and procedures for, the Adaptation Committee, for adoption by the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP 17) to be held in Durban, South Africa, at the end of 2011.

Submissions have been received from: Algeria, Australia, Belarus, Benin, Bolivia, Canada, China, Egypt, Gambia, on behalf of the least developed countries (LDCs), Ghana, Grenada, on behalf of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS), Hungary and the EC, on behalf of the EU, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Malawi, Malaysia, Mali, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Panama, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Turkey, US, Uzbekistan and Venezuela.
