UNFCCC Photo, Video and Podcast Contest Winners Announced in Doha

UNFCCC Executive Secretary Christiana Figueres has announced the winners of the UNFCCC Photo and Video Contests for 2012.

The photo and video competition results were announced at a ceremony held in Doha, Qatar during the UNFCCC climate change talks.

29 November 2012: The winners of the UNFCCC Photo and Video Contests for 2012 were announced at a ceremony in Doha, Qatar, hosted by UNFCCC Executive Secretary Christiana Figueres.

Photographs were selected for the Joint Implementation (JI) mechanism based on the theme “Joint Implementation: Spurring Investment Against Climate Change,” with the winning selection coming from the Mazurskie Landfill Project in Poland.

Photographs and videos were selected for the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) contest and the winner of the photo contest was Dinesh Malte, based on a photo of the 3142 Roaring 40’s Wind Farm Project in India.

The CDM African Radio contest was based on the theme of “How can my community/city/country benefit from the CDM.” The first place winner for the radio contest was Wambi Michael from Uganda, whose story focused on the CDM Bujagali hydroelectric power project in the West Nile region. The shortlisted contestants for the African Radio Contest were invited the 2012 UN Climate Conference to participate in a workshop on building communication capacity for African journalists.
