3 August 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat launched a website to enable parties and entities to submit Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) and information on support for these actions. This temporary website was put in place while the Prototype of the NAMA Registry is developed, as requested by Decision 2/CP.17.

The website will enable parties and organizations to submit NAMAs through templates, which will be uploaded to the website. Submissions can contain: NAMAs seeking support for preparation; NAMAs seeking support for implementation; other NAMAs for recognition; and information on support for preparation and implementation of NAMAs. The launch of the Prototype is expected to take place in November 2012, when submissions will be integrated.

The 16th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 16) decided to set up a Registry to record NAMAs seeking international support with the objective of matching finance, technology and capacity building support to those actions. COP 17 decided to develop the registry as a dynamic, web-based platform and requested the Secretariat to develop a prototype of the Registry by the 36th session of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI 36).
