November 2011: The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) held a climate change training workshop for local journalists in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, with the aim of raising journalists’ awareness and interest in climate change.
The workshop brought together 35 participants, who were introduced to existing climate change projects in Cambodia and practiced how to integrate climate change issues into their report writing. The workshop was funded by UNESCO and implemented by the Cambodian Center for Independent Media (CCIM).
The event included a field trip to the Peam Krasop Wildlife Sanctuary in Koh Kong, organized by the International Union of Conservation of Nature (IUCN), where particpants learned about the coastal ecology and the vulnerability of two isolated fishery communities surrounded by mangrove forests.
