UNEP/GRID-Arendal Release Authors’ Guide for AEO-3
story highlights

AEO is a publication of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN), and was affirmed as a "decision support tool" by the 2008 joint meeting of the African Ministers of Health and Environment.

The guidelines are expected to ensure a strong science-policy interface in the AEO-3, with the inclusion of clear health and environment links, within environmental assessments.

13 September 2012: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP)/GRID-Arendal has released a publication titled “African Environmental Outlook 3 – Authors’ Guide” as a reference point for authors involved in the third edition of the report (AEO-3), which will have a focus on health and environment issues in Africa. It will assess challenges and opportunities of key issues as they relate to environment’s contribution to the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and targets.

The assessment also will address how environmental degradation can impede progress towards those targets, focusing on vulnerable groups, species, ecosystems and areas.

The 38-page authors’ guide aims to ensure consistency in the quality of contributions to the report, a strong science-policy interface, and clear health and environment links.
