UNEP/CMS Thesis Award to be Announced at COP 10

Many of the PhD theses on migratory species that have been received relate to the impact of climate change on migratory species, invasive species, grasslands and agriculture, marine ecosystems, as well as long distance migration.

11 May 2011: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP)/Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) Secretariat, in affiliation with the Zoological Research Museum Alexander Koenig in Bonn, reports that there have been more than 60 submissions for the UNEP/CMS Thesis Award 2011.

Many of the PhD theses on migratory species that have been received relate to the impact of climate change on migratory species, invasive species, grasslands and agriculture, marine ecosystems, as well as long distance migration. The top ten theses will be shortlisted based on the summaries and conservation statements submitted, and then reviewed by a jury of ten experts.

The 2011 Thesis Award, sponsored by Deutsche Lufthansa, will be presented at the tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 10) to the Convention, which will convene from 20-25 November 2011, in Bergen, Norway.
