August 2012: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) Project has released two TNAs on adaptation and mitigation respectively. The reports are intended to provide the Government of Thailand with an effective tool to track its need for new equipment, techniques, services, capacities and skills for climate change adaptation and mitigation.

The 251-page adaptation report focuses on technology prioritization for three key sectors, namely agriculture, water resource management, and climate change modelling. The 185-page mitigation report includes three sections on: technology prioritization for the energy management sector; the Technology Assessment Plans for specific sectors; and on cross-cutting issues of the country’s different sectors.

The TNA Project is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and implemented by UNEP’s Division of Technology, Industry and Economics (DTIE) and the UNEP Risoe Centre on Energy, Climate and Sustainable Development. The TNA aims to assist countries in determining their technology priorities regarding mitigation of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and adaptation to climate change.
