UNEP IETC Spotlights Waste Biomass to Energy Projects

The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) International Environment Technology Centre (IETC) has published its August 2014 Newsletter spotlighting projects on converting waste agricultural biomass to energy.

UNEP IETC assists countries to build local capacity to both identify and implement technologies for converting waste biomass into energy, assessing potential for resource conservation and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction.

IETCAugust 2014: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) International Environment Technology Centre (IETC) has published its August 2014 Newsletter spotlighting projects on converting waste agricultural biomass to energy.

UNEP IETC assists countries to build local capacity to both identify and implement technologies for converting waste biomass into energy, assessing potential for resource conservation and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction. According to IETC, for every ton of crop produced, there is an average of an almost equal amount of waste agricultural biomass.

The newsletter highlights UNEP IETC’s work on agricultural biomass activities in Cambodia, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines and Sri Lanka. [Publication: IETC Monthly Report, August 2014]
