26 November 2009: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has announced the release of a film titled “Hard Rain: Our Headlong Collision with Nature,” by Mark Edwards and Bob Dylan, which will be released on DVD at the opening of the Hard Rain exhibition in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 6 December 2009, the eve of the UN Climate Change Conference.
The film aims to highlight the interconnectedness of global issues and stresses the need to recognize these linkages in order to address them. Accompanying the release is an essay entitled “The Urgency of Now,” by Lloyd Timberlake, which proposes a radically new worldwide approach to climate change, poverty, the wasteful use of resources, population expansion, habitat destruction and species loss.
