April 2011: The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) has published its 2011 Annual Report, in which UNECE achievements in 2010 and opportunities in 2011 are summarized.
The report includes sections that describe the work done by UNECE during 2010 on: advancing the pan-European environmental agenda; sustainable energy; timber and forestry; and fostering sustainable transport development. For example, it highlights the achievements of the Energy Efficiency 21 (EE21) Programme, where UNECE promotes the formation of an energy efficiency market in Eastern Europe so that cost-effective investments can provide formation of an a self-financing method of reducing global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
