UNECE10 October 2013: The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) launched an information clearing house as a hub for water and health information in Moldova, under the Protocol on Water and Health to the UNECE Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Rivers and International Lakes (Water Convention).

The project, a joint effort of the UNECE and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), will assist Moldova in implementing targets developed by the Government in 2010 on water and health. Just 59% of Moldovans have access to improved sanitation, while 62% have access to improved drinking water.

In addition to the launch of the clearing house, participants also took part in the review and adoption of initial findings related to the development of an action plan on target implementation and resource mobilization for water supply, sanitation and health objectives. [UNECE Press Release]
