Activities during Energy Week included the 18th Annual Session of the UNECE Committee on Sustainable Energy, which convened from 18-20 November 2009, and the fourth Session of the UNECE Ad Hoc Group of Experts on Cleaner Electricity Production from Coal and Other Fossil Fuels, which convened from 16-17 November 2009.

During the Week, participants discussed: the impacts of the financial crisis on energy investment and energy security; clean energy production; and the greening of the global economy. They concluded that major long-term investment is needed to target new technologies, such as sustainable transport, carbon capture and storage (CCS), and smart grids.[UNECE Weekly Bulletin] [Meeting Documents]
