This is the conclusion of the workshop titled “Safe and Healthy Walking and Cycling in Urban Areas” held in Prague, Czech Republic, from 24-25 September 2009.

The workshop was organized in the framework of the Transport, Health and Environment Pan-European Programme, which is a joint initiative of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for Europe. The workshop identified strategies, policies and measures to promote innovative policies focusing on cooperation between national and local authorities, as well as industry and civil society in planning, financing and developing legislation supporting walking and cycling in cities.
