29 January 2009: Commenting on the message on climate change “Shaping an Opportunity Out of Crisis” issued to the participants at the World Economic Forum taking place in Davos, Switzerland, the UN Development Programme (UNDP) welcomed the emphasis placed on addressing climate change at this year’s edition of the event.
The message, signed by a group of high-level climate leaders, stresses the paramount importance of this challenge for the future of humanity. UNDP further notes that the response to the economic turmoil provides an opportunity to channel funds into resource-efficient and low-carbon investments and calls for integrating climate change into development strategies and policies.
