UNCTAD Releases Report of 2010 World Investment Forum

The report summarizes the outcomes of the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) World Investment Forum, held in September 2010 under the theme "Investing in Sustainable Development."

June 2011: The UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has released a report of the World Investment Forum 2010, which focused on the theme “Investing in Sustainable Development.”

Held 6-9 September 2010, in Xiamen, China, this second World Investment Forum aimed to foster better understanding of development challenges and opportunities in the investment landscape after the global financal crisis, and to provide inputs to the formulation of a new generation of national and international investment policies to bring about sustainable development and help achieve the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

The meeting addressed, among other issues: maximizing development benefits through redesigned investment policies; the future of investment promotion; making international investment rules work for sustainable development; building more responsible capital markets; and avoiding future debt crises in the context of responsible lending and borrowing.
