4 June 2010: The Workshop on Harmonization and Equivalence on Organic Agriculture in Asia was held under the auspices of the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD)/UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)/International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) Global Organic Market Access (GOMA) project, which aims to promote global access to organic products.

Participants at the workshop, held in Shanghai, China, from 27-29 May 2010, agreed to: form an open-ended public-private network to discuss conceptual and practical issues for regional cooperation on organic labeling and trade; and establish a regional working group of interested parties to spearhead progress in organic harmonization, equivalency and cooperation arrangements.
