August 2010: The UN Division for Sustainable Developement (DSD) has launched a new website for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD) in 2012 (also referred to as “Rio+20”).

The Conference’s three objectives are to: secure renewed political commitment to sustainable development; assess the progress and implementation gaps in meeting already agreed commitments; and address new and emerging challenges. In addition, member States have agreed on two themes for the Conference: green economy within the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication, and institutional framework for sustainable development.

The UNCSD 2012 website uses a content management system with interactive features. The website features, inter alia: a newsletter; videos; a calendar; a blog by UNCSD Secretary-General Sha Zukang; a news feeds; RSS; polls; and surveys. [UNCSD 2012 Website]
