UNCCD’s Global Mechanism Launches scope|acp Website

16 May 2011: The South-South Cooperation programme of the Global Mechanism (GM) of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) has launched the new website www.scopeacp.net, which seeks to provide tools to enhance the use of existing resources as well as to increase access to new and innovative financial resources for sustainable land management (SLM).

Described as a Sustainable Land Management Finance (SLM-F) knowledge exchange and learning tool, this website seeks to provide information on funding opportunities and procedures of development partners, support strengthening coordination and synergy of existing initiatives in affected regions, help to improve stakeholders’ response capacity, and strengthen collaboration between key players.

The website was designed in the context of scope|acp, the UNCCD component of the European Union-funded project on “Capacity Building related to Multilateral Environmental Agreements in African, Caribbean and Pacific countries” (ACP MEAs), which is coordinated by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).
