In related UNCCD news, the Scientific Knowledge Brokering Portal (SKBP) Knowledge Base interactive map is being updated to provide an overview of knowledge bases and websites as reported by country Parties in their national reports. Currently, there are maps to classify the knowledge bases in two ways. The ‘Country Coverage’ map shows users how to find knowledge bases that contain information about practices in a specific country. The ‘Managing Site Owners’ map shows users where to find knowledge bases according to the location of their respective managing site owners or organizations. The maps include short descriptions of the knowledge bases and the number of languages under which the sites are made available.

In addition, the Civil Society Organization (CSO) Panel has released its first newsletter, which introduces the members of the CSO Panel and their work. Among the topics reviewed are: the Equator Prize for Sustainable Land Management (SLM) in Sub-Saharan Africa Award Ceremony; enhancing community participation in dryland management; desertification in Asia; and lessons from Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). On 22 July 2014, the CSO Panel will conduct a teleconference for its fifth meeting.
