UNCCD Invites Nominations for “Land for Life” Award

The Award will recognize initiatives that secure the health and productivity of soil for the well-being of present and future generations, and will be awarded to efforts that reduce land degradation through sustainable land management, or are outstanding examples of political leadership, policy, business, advocacy campaigns or scientific research.

December 2011: The Secretariat of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) has opened the application procedure for the “Land for Life” award. Nominations are due by 29 February 2012.

The Award was launched during the tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 10) to the UNCCD, which took place in Changwon, Republic of Korea. The Award will recognize initiatives that secure the health and productivity of soil for the well-being of present and future generations, and will be awarded to efforts that reduce land degradation through sustainable land management, or are outstanding examples of political leadership, policy, business, advocacy campaigns or scientific research.
