UNCCD CSO Panel Outlines 2014 Work Programme

The Civil Society Organization (CSO) Panel to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) met to discuss and outline a work programme for 2014 and comment on a draft Business Engagement Strategy, which aims to build UNCCD partnerships with the private sector.

UNCCD logo6 February 2014: The Civil Society Organization (CSO) Panel to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) met to discuss and outline a work programme for 2014 and comment on a draft Business Engagement Strategy, which aims to build UNCCD partnerships with the private sector.

During its three day meeting, the Panel also provided input into a Rio+20 Intergovernmental Working Group meeting taking place in Brussels, from 10-11 February, and discussed involvement in the World Day to Combat Desertification and approaches to mobilize CSOs and existing networks. The panel is composed of five representatives from regional groups that were selected from among 75 nominations. The panel members hail from Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, Pakistan and Senegal.

The CSO Panel met in Bonn, Germany from 4-6 February 2014 following its creation at the 2013 meeting of the UNCCD Conference of the Parties. The Panel will hold its next meeting in April 2014. [UNCCD CSO Panel Overview] [Meeting Agenda] [New Members of the CSO Panel]
