UNCCD and Xinhua News Agency to Spread Land Restoration News

Xinhua News Agency has over 150 bureaus around the world, and UNCCD will work with the media agency to disseminate information about China's efforts and successes in restoring degraded land.

18 September 2012: Luc Gnacadja, Executive Secretary of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), and Li Congjun, President Xinhua News Agency, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to spread news regarding land restoration globally.

The signing ceremony took place on 17 September 2012, in Beijing, China.

Xinhua News Agency has over 150 bureaus around the world, and UNCCD will work with the media agency to disseminate information about China’s efforts and successes in restoring degraded land.

In June, Xinhua, together with the UNCCD Secretariat and other sponsors, co-organized the Asia Regional Media Workshop on Desertification, Land Degradation and Drought in Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, China. [UNCCD Press Release]
