2 April 2009: In a statement to the G20 Summit, which took place on 2 April 2009, in London, UK, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon welcomed the G20 leaders’ commitment to a $1.1 trillion package and their recognition of the interlinkages between tackling the economic crisis and addressing food security and climate change.

He noted their commitment to address the threat of irreversible climate change and their pledge to reach agreement at the UN climate change conference in Copenhagen in December 2009. [The statement]
