UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has released the programme for its UN Climate Summit – Catalyzing Action, scheduled to take place at UN Headquarters in New York, US, on 23 September 2014.

climate-summit20144 August 2014: UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has released the programme for the UN Climate Summit – Catalyzing Action, scheduled to take place at UN Headquarters in New York, US, on 23 September 2014.

The Summit will open with remarks by the UN Secretary-General, a film and presentations from civil society, and remarks by selected Heads of State and Government and invited guest speakers, followed by three parallel plenary sessions for Heads of State and Government on national action and ambition announcements. In the afternoon, a Private Sector Forum high-level luncheon will be held for Heads of State and Government, Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of the private sector and leaders of civil society hosted by the UN Secretary-General and organized by Global Compact.

Next, multilateral and multi-stakeholder action announcements on finance, forests, agriculture, energy, transport, short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs), cities and resilience will take place in parallel with thematic discussions on: climate, health and jobs; voices from the climate frontlines; economic case for action; and climate science. The Summit will close with remarks by selected Heads of State and Government, a presentation of the Chair’s summary by the UN Secretary-General, and a musical finale.
