unredd7 November 2013: The UN Collaborative Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation (UN-REDD) convened the thirteenth meeting of its Policy Board, which approved US$11.6 million in funding of which US$11 million was contributed by Norway.

Funding allocations included US$3.6 million for Honduras and US$1.8 million for Uganda. Almost US$7 million was approved for programme support, including targeted support for projects ranging from the development of national strategies to capacity building for stakeholder engagement.

For disbursement of the new funding, the Policy Board supported the 2016-2020 Strategic Framework for the UN-REDD Programme. Moving forward, the Policy Board called for enhanced inter-agency cooperation and an evolving strategy to assist country partners as they move towards results-based payments for emission reductions.

The Policy Board meeting was the first at which self-selected civil society organizations’ (CSOs) representatives were full participants. The meeting also included a Joint Knowledge Exchange Day to support South-South learning, and an Information Sharing Day to address forest reference levels, forest tenure and strategy development.
