UN Global Compact Special Advisor on Sustainable Development Appointed

The UN Global Compact has appointed Brice Lalonde as Special Advisor on Sustainable Development.

He will work with the Global Compact Office to develop close relationships and opportunities for collaboration with governments and other stakeholders on sustainable development and follow-up to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).

He will work with the Global Compact Office to develop close relationships and opportunities for collaboration with governments and other stakeholders on sustainable development and follow-up to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).

Lalonde will advocate for Global Compact issue platforms on environment, in particular Caring for Climate, the climate action platform for business. Prior to his recent position as UN Assistant Secretary-General, UNCSD Executive Coordinator, Lalonde served as French Ambassador for climate change, French Minister for the Environment, Chairman of the Round Table for Sustainable Development at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and Senior Adviser for the Environment to the French Government.
