UN Global Compact Bulletin Highlights Board Discussion on Post-2015

In its December 2012 meeting, the UN Global Compact Board welcomed the Compact's efforts to engage business in the post-2015 development agenda process, the Bulletin notes.

This issue also highlights the Compact's participation in the First Annual Forum on Business and Human Rights.

January 2013: The latest issue of the UN Global Compact Bulletin highlights the Global Compact Board’s recent meeting to guide the priorities and direction of the initiative, including the strategic review and the contribution of the private sector to the post-2015 development process.

Board members meeting on 14 December 2012 noted links between the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) and the post-2015 development agenda, and welcomed the Compact’s efforts to engage business in the process, the Bulletin notes.

The Bulletin also highlights the Compact’s participation in the UN Human Rights Council’s (HRC) First Annual Forum on Business and Human Rights. The Compact led sessions on women’s empowerment, children’s rights, supply chain sustainability and indigenous peoples’ rights, among other issues, and was recognized for disseminating knowledge about the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
