The UN Department of Social and Economic Affairs (DESA) has joined Facebook and other social media networks to highlight its work and facilitate participation and knowledge transfer, including on the UN Conference for Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).

24 October 2011: The UN Department of Social and Economic Affairs (DESA) has launched its online presence on social media networks – Facebook, Twitter and the Slideshare platform – aiming to serve as an online hub for accessing a variety of information and increasing avenues for participation, including in the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).

The use of these platforms seeks to raise awareness of DESA’s work, while contributing to online communities and facilitating knowledge transfer and exchange. [UN DESA News]
