UN CC:Learn4 September 2014: The One UN Climate Change Learning Partnership (UN CC:Learn) Secretariat has launched two resource guides for those interested in gaining a more advanced understanding of: the linkages between climate change and health; and formal and informal education on climate change at primary and secondary levels.

The two learning guides are organized into three parts. Part I includes a brief introduction to the subject area and an outline of learning topics to be covered. Part II lists available written learning resources and training courses, organized by learning topic. Part III provides factsheets and links to source material.

The ‘Resource Guide for Advanced Learning on Understanding the Climate Change and Health Interface,’ developed with technical advice from the World Health Organization (WHO), focuses on eight learning topics: health impacts of climate change; health-related vulnerability and adaptation assessments; early warning systems for health risks; building resilience of the health system; national strategies and action plans on health adaptation to climate change; monitoring and evaluation of programmes on health adaptation to climate change; engagement with other health-determining sectors; and health co-benefits of mitigation and adaptation policies and programmes.

The ‘Resource Guide for Advanced Learning on Integrating Climate Change in Education at Primary and Secondary Level,’ developed with technical advice from the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), covers four learning topics: strategies and policies for climate change education; integration of climate change in school curricula; training and teaching materials for teachers and educators; and safe and sustainable school campuses.

The resource guides are part of a series facilitating access to state-of-the-art materials relevant for climate change learning.

UN CC:Learn is a One UN partnership involving 33 organizations that supports countries in designing and implementing results-oriented and sustainable learning to address climate change. The Secretariat for UN CC:Learn is hosted by the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
