UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon has appointed new heads to the Secretariat of the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and its Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer (the Ozone Secretariat), and its financial mechanism, the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol (MLF).
6 September 2013: UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has appointed new heads to the Secretariat of the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and its Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer (the Ozone Secretariat) and its financial mechanism, the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol (MLF).
Tina Birbili of Greece was appointed as the new Executive Secretary of the Ozone Secretariat. Eduardo Ganem of Mexico was appointed as the Chief Officer of the MLF.
The appointments were made as Marco Gonzalez, Executive Secretary of the Ozone Secretariat, and Maria Nolan, Chief Officer of the MLF, prepare to retire in October and September respectively. [UNEP Press Release] [Ozone Secretariat Website]
