The ‘Tropical Landscapes Summit 2015′ considered the role of green investment in driving growth in Indonesia and explored options for public-private partnerships in support of Indonesia’s national development plans. Specific topics addressed include: food and nutrition security; sustainable cities; energy; conservation; forest management; and sustainable commodity supply chains.

Main issues identified during the Summit include uncertainty regarding risk and revenue associated with many green investments, as well as complex government regulations which dissuade green investment in some sectors.

To address obstacles to private sector investment in the green economy, participants suggested the provision of incentives to companies in order to encourage and promote sustainable growth models. Calls were also issued for policy reform to ensure transparency and accountability and enforce legal obligations.

The Summit’s strategic partners include: the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO); the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR); the UN Environment Programme (UNEP); the UN Development Programme (UNDP); the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD); the World Food Programme (WFP); and the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF).
