Supervisory Committee Calls for Safeguarding JI

In its annual report to the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP), the Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee (JISC) has called on countries to take decisions that safeguard and improve Joint Implementation (JI).

UNFCCC17 September 2014: In its annual report to the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP), the Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee (JISC) has called on countries to take decisions that safeguard and improve Joint Implementation (JI).

The JISC agreed on this message during its 35th meeting (JISC35), which took place from 16-17 September 2014, in Bonn, Germany. During the meeting, it finalized its annual report to the CMP and will deliver this message to countries meeting in Lima, Peru, at the 10th session of the CMP (CMP 10). In its report to the CMP, the JISC will also make a series of recommendations about how the JI mechanism can begin operating under the revised guidelines currently being considered by parties.

In addition to finalizing the JI annual report to the CMP, JISC35 also considered matters relating to: the accreditation of independent entities; determination and verification reports; and the JI management plan and resources for the work on JI.
