SPREP announces the launch of Clean Pacific 2012 Campaign to coincide with World Wetlands Day in Samoa.

The Campaign will focus on raising awareness on waste management and pollution control in the Pacific.

South Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP)26 January 2012: The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) has announced the launch of the “Clean Pacific 2012” Campaign, to coincide with World Wetlands Day, taking place in Samoa, on 2 February 2012.


The Campaign will focus on promoting activities in waste management and pollution control in Pacific islands. According to David Sheppard, Director of SPREP, the Campaign will raise awareness and build capacity in the management and disposal of solid waste.

Due to the remote locations of some Pacific islands, SPREP will focus on sustainable local solutions. [SPREP Press Release]
