SIWI, Elsevier Release Report on State of Research on Water-Food Nexus

A report launched by SIWI on the state of water and food research finds that research with higher levels of international and interdisciplinary collaboration have more impact.

The report was launched during 2012 World Water Week.

26 August 2012: During World Water Week, the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) and Elsevier released a report titled “The Water and Food Nexus: Trends and Development of the Research Landscape,” which highlights the rapid growth in water research. The report finds increases in collaboration and the interdisciplinary nature of the research.

According to the report, water resources research is growing at 9.2% per year, compared with an average of 4% across research disciplines. Research on water and food is growing at 4.7% per year. The US currently produces the largest amount of water and food research, but the report also highlights high growth rates of research in China, Malaysia and Iran.
