September Issue of UNFCCC Newsletter Released

29 September 2010: The September issue of the UNFCCC Newsletter focuses on the last climate change negotiating session before the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC in Cancun, Mexico, at the end of 2010.

The September issue features: a video message from Patricia Espinosa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mexico and incoming President of COP 16, in which she looks ahead to the Climate Change Conference in Cancun and talks about the challenges facing the negotiating process; an article authored by Han Seung-soo KBE, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea and Chair of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Board of Directors, and Lord Nicholas Stern, IG Patel Professor of Economics and Government, Chair of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the London School of Economics, and Vice-Chair of the GGGI Board of Directors, on supporting green growth in developing countries; and an article authored by Paul Hohnen, Associate Fellow of Chatham House and independent consultant on sustainable development, titled “Green Growth – the Basis for a New Industrial Revolution.”

The Newsletter also contains sections on: mitigation; adaptation, finance; technology; an update on the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA) and the Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP); and key UNFCCC statements.
