Selection Committee Announces Civil Society Participants in Bali HLP Meeting

An international selection committee has announced the names of 50 civil society participants who will be funded to take part in stakeholder consultations in Bali, Indonesia, organized in tandem with the 4th meeting of the High-Level Panel of Eminent Persons on the Post-2015 Development Agenda in late March.

8 March 2013: An international selection committee has announced the names of 50 civil society participants who will be funded to take part in stakeholder consultations in Bali, Indonesia, ahead of the fourth meeting of the High-level Panel on the Post-2015 Development Agenda (HLP) in late March.

The selection committee, comprised of international civil society representatives, announced its choices on the International NGO Forum on Indonesian Development (INFID) website. The committee said it received 433 applications from civil society participants around the world, and that further places for self-funded participants will be allocated soon. In addition, a separate selection committee comprising representatives of Indonesian NGOs announced the names of 50 Indonesian civil society representatives who will be funded to participate in the meeting.

Civil society participants will have preparatory meetings on 23-24 March, and engage with HLP members on 25-26 March, including joint “town hall” and separate interest group meetings. The HLP meeting takes place in Bali from 25-27 March 2013, and will focus on partnership and cooperation for development, particularly strategies for implementation and opportunities to shape a global consensus on the new development agenda.

The HLP has 27 members, including Heads of State, ministers and independent experts. It is chaired by UK Prime Minister David Cameron, President of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and President of Liberia Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. [INFID Press Release] [HLP Website]
