Secretary-General Appoints Executive Coordinators for UNCSD

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced the appointments of Brice Lalonde (France) and Elizabeth Thompson (Barbados) as the Executive Coordinators for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, also known as Rio+20).

2 December 2010: UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced the appointments of Brice Lalonde (France) and Elizabeth Thompson (Barbados) as the Executive Coordinators for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, also known as Rio+20).

Lalonde, France’s ambassador for climate change negotiations and former Minister for the Environment, is expected to take up the role on 1 January 2011. Thompson, formerly Barbados’ Minister for Energy and Environment, was expected to begin her duties in December.
