6 February 2012: The inaugural newsletter of the Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) initiative highlights the approval of SE4ALL’s Framework for Action, the presentation of the SE4ALL initiative at the World Future Energy Summit (WFES), new publications, and profiles of several members of the High-Level Group on SE4ALL.

The “Sustainable Energy for All Update” provides an overview of the content of the Framework for Action in relation to the SE4ALL initiative’s main 2030 objectives of ensuring universal energy access to all, doubling the global rate of improvement of energy efficiency, and doubling the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix. The Update also outlines actions that can be taken by governments, companies, investors, and civil society groups to contribute to these objectives.

The newsletter further draws attention to the presentation of the SE4ALL initiative at the World Future Energy Summit (WFES), which took place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), in January 2012, as well as upcoming events, including the European and African regional launches of the initiative.

The Update also highlights: the UN Secretary-General’s second term priority on sustainable development; SE4ALL in the news; a video on the potential of the SE4ALL initiative; publications of the SE4ALL initiative; and “Profiles in Leadership” of several members of the High-Level Group on SE4ALL.
