February 2013: The second issue of “Sustainable Development in Action,” a newsletter from the UN Division for Sustainable Development (DSD), Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), highlights the UN General Assembly’s (UNGA) creation of the Open Working Group (OWG) on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on 22 January 2013.
It also notes the appointment of two facilitators for the process to establish an intergovernmental committee on an effective sustainable development financing. This committee will comprise 30 experts, and conclude its work by 2014.
This issue of the newsletter also features the Higher Education Sustainability Initiative (HESI) as an action network, and an upcoming online conversation on the major outcomes of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), on 12 February.
