Saudia Arabia and FAO Cooperate on Managing Water, Forests, Crop Production

The FAO assistance on 17 projects in Saudi Arabia will focus on small-scale agricultural producers and fishers, aiming to increase and diversify food production.

FAO17 May 2012: During the FAO Regional Conference for the Near East, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia committed US$66.7 million to implement Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) technical assistance projects in the areas of transfer of technology, sustainable natural resource management including for water and forests, sustainable crop production and capacity building, among others.

Over the upcoming five years, FAO will provide assistance to 17 projects in Saudi Arabia. The activities will particularly target small-scale agricultural producers and fishers to increase and diversify food production.
