UNFCCC12 December 2015: The UNFCCC Secretariat has reported that Saint Kitts and Nevis and Venezuela have formally submitted their intended nationally determined contributions (INDCs), bringing the total number of Parties that have made their submissions to 188.

The INDC from Saint Kitts and Nevis, submitted on 12 December 2015, proposes a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction target of 22% and 35% of GHG emissions projected in the business-as-usual (BAU) scenario for 2025 and 2030, respectively. The contribution is conditional on the availability of financial and technological support. It covers all sectors, paying special attention to the energy and transport sectors, including through efforts to improve efficiency in both sectors. Saint Kitts and Nevis’ proposed mitigation actions intend to increase the use of renewable energy sources by 50%. The contribution also highlights adaptation efforts focused on water, agriculture and coastal zones.
