SAICM Releases Stakeholder Comments on EPPP as an Emerging Policy Issue

The Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM) has released comments received from stakeholders on the nomination of Environmentally Persistent Pharmaceutical Pollutants (EPPP) as an emerging policy issue, submitted by the Government of Peru, together with the International Society of Doctors for the Environment.

The issue will be considered by the Second meeting of the Open-Ended Working Group (OEWG2) of SAICM, scheduled to convene in December 2014.

SAICMAugust 2014: The Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM) has released comments received from stakeholders on the nomination of Environmentally Persistent Pharmaceutical Pollutants (EPPP) as an emerging policy issue, submitted by the Government of Peru, together with the International Society of Doctors for the Environment. The issue will be considered by the second session of the Open-Ended Working Group (OEWG2) of SAICM, scheduled to convene in December 2014.

Comments on the nomination of EPPP were submitted by: the European Union, Germany, Mexico, Norway, Peru, the US; CHEM Trust, Health Care Without Harm and Pesticide Action Network (PAN) Germany; and the World Health Organization (WHO).

Proponents may now revise their nominations to take into account comments and to provide clarifications. The revised submission will be presented and considered by OEWG2. [Comments received on the nomination of EPPP]
