Rock Band Launches Campaign for SE4ALL, Solar Power in Ugandan Clinics

The rock band Linkin Park, working through its non-profit organization, Music for Relief, has partnered with We Care Solar, a non-profit that designs and manufactures a high-efficiency solar energy system that fits in a carry-on suitcase known as the Solar Suitcase.

The band will also collect signatures and donations to support the goals of the UN Secretary-General's Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) Initiative.

9 May 2012: The rock band Linkin Park, through their “Power the World” Initiative, has launched a campaign to bring solar power to health clinics in Uganda and is encouraging its fans to sign a pledge to support the UN Secretary-General’s Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) Initiative.

Working through its non-profit organization, Music for Relief, Linkin Park has partnered with We Care Solar, a non-profit that designs and manufactures a high-efficiency solar energy system that fits in a carry-on suitcase known as the Solar Suitcase. Linkin Park intends to showcase the Suitcase, which provides health workers with reliable lighting, mobile communication devices and power for medical devices, at upcoming concerts. The band is also requesting fans to donate US$10 or more to help pack a Solar Suitcase.

Linkin Park is also asking fans and others to sign a pledge in support of SE4ALL, which will be presented to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on 19 June 2012, to bring more visibility to the issue at the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) Conference. [Press Release]
