30 May 2012: The organizing partners of Rio+Social, namely Mashable, 92nd Street Y, Ericsson, Energias de Portugal (EDP), LiveAD, and the UN Foundation, have launched the “6-Minute Speech Project,” inviting people from around the world to participate in a global dialogue around the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) and share their vision of a more sustainable future.

The project invites submissions of comments and videos via social media. Select submissions will be compiled into a speech reflecting collective hopes and visions for a better world, which will help redefine “The Future We Want” and how this future can be achieved. The completed speech will be revealed at Rio+Social, to be held on 19 June 2012, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, during Rio+20. [UN Foundation Press Release]
