REN21 and IRENA Sign MoU

With the signing of this MoU, IRENA and REN21 will move forward on a joint project building a qualitative and quantitative renewable energy database framework.

18 January 2012: The Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century (REN21) and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) have announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate on a renewables database, among other things. Mohamed El-Ashry, Chairman of REN21, said that he was very pleased to “see IRENA and REN21 moving forward to make their collaboration official.” He welcomed the strengthening of cooperation between REN21 and IRENA for the promotion of rapid renewable energy deployment around the globe. In his statement, IRENA Director-General Adnan Amin stated that “the interconnected challenges the energy sector currently faces require well-coordinated answers. The cooperation between IRENA and REN21 will help to advance the renewable energy agenda globally.”
