The STRP newsletter outlines highlights from the COP, including: the adoption of 22 Draft Resolutions; the assistance of 14 STRP core members and STRP invited experts to Parties during the COP negotiations of scientific and technical Draft Resolutions; the holding of 42 side events; the signing of three official agreements between Ramsar and other partners; and five special plenary presentations.

9 August 2012: The latest edition of the Newsletter of the Scientific and Technical Review Panel (STRP) of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat (Ramsar Convention) focuses on the 11th Meeting of the Conference of Contracting Parties (COP 11), which took place from 6-13 July 2012, in Bucharest, Romania, under the theme “Wetlands: Home and Destination.”

The newsletter outlines highlights from the COP, including: the adoption of 22 Draft Resolutions; the assistance of 14 STRP core members and STRP invited experts to Parties during the COP negotiations of scientific and technical Draft Resolutions; the holding of 42 side events; the signing of three official agreements between Ramsar and other partners; and five special plenary presentations on “wetland conservation and sustainable use in Romania,” “outcomes of Rio+20 and their implications for the Ramsar Convention,” “sustainable tourism and the value of wetlands,” “The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB),” and “water security and importance of wetlands and natural infrastructure in water resource management.”
