Ramsar Releases Report from Mission to Spanish Site Doñana

25 July 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar Convention) has announced that the report of the mission to Ramsar Site Doñana, in Spain, carried out on 20-22 January 2011, is now available in Spanish. The mission was conducted together with the World Heritage Centre 0f the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), acting as the advisor for natural sites.

The mission report analyzes Doñana’s ecosystem and covers its hydrology, coastal and marine ecology, and socioeconomic aspects. The joint mission concluded that the conservation status of this important ecosystem is satisfactory, and that it continues to support a number of hydrological, environmental, cultural and biodiversity values and services.
