Ramsar Releases Fourth Edition of Handbooks on Wise Use of Wetlands

The 20 handbooks, together with the Ramsar Strategic Plan 2009-2015, embody all of the current guidelines and advice officially adopted by the Conference of the Contracting Parties (COP) on a range of wetland-related matters.

They aim to assist those with an interest in, or directly involved with, implementation of the Convention at the international, regional, national, subnational or local levels.

6 July 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar Convention) has released the fourth edition of the Ramsar Handbooks for the wise use of wetlands, in PDF format. The 20 handbooks, together with the Ramsar Strategic Plan 2009-2015, embody all of the current guidelines and advice officially adopted by the Conference of the Contracting Parties (COP) on a range of wetland-related matters, including wetland policy and management, inventory and monitoring, river basin management, Ramsar Site designation, and international cooperation.

The Handbooks aim to assist those with an interest in, or directly involved with, implementation of the Convention at the international, regional, national, sub-national or local levels. The fourth edition, which is available in English, French and Spanish, supersedes all previous editions of the Handbooks.
